Integrated devt plan for JPanganiban market, bus terminal

The present terminal for bus companies operating the JPanganiban-Metro Manila route as well as the Bicol-bound buses.

THE provincial bus terminal and the adjacent public market building in Jose Panganiban, CamNorte will undergo multi-million-peso integrated development to boost the business potential in the town’s business section.

This was disclosed to MWBuzz by Engr Raymund Caranceja, who is the municipal business development officer (MBDO) in charge of the project.

“The second floor of the market building will be redesigned along with the bus terminal,” Caranceja said, adding that the area is being wasted as it is not fully utilized commercially.

Three bus companies plying the Jose Panganiban-Metro Manila route, namely Philtranco, Superland and Twin Hearts, will benefit from the project as it would provide better facilities to Manila-bound passengers such as waiting area and eateries.

The present terminal is also being shared by Daet-Legaspi buses, mini vans and jeepneys.

Caranceja said the new design of the market will allow for more stalls and public toilet facilities.

“This is a major infrastructure development which would be financed by loans from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Land Bank (LB) and the Philippine National Bank (PNG).

He said the municipal government is finalizing the cost aspect of the project.

“We hope to generate more business in the area as more spaces for small enterprises would be available,” Caranceja said.

At present, the market area serves as the business center of the town where farm produce and commercial goods are traded.

The wet market serves as the outlet for local fishermen as well as meat vendors.
